Global Peace Effect of Meditation

Statistical Analysis of the Global Influence of Peace by 10 000 Yoga- Meditation Experts

To stabilize societies during profound change, science investigates ordering principles known in the Vedic tradition as Yoga, realized through meditation. Since the mid-20th century, interdisciplinary research has studied these dynamics as field effects, where localized coherent domains naturally diminish turbulent tendencies. A US university founded in the 1970s by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi has dedicated itself to the scientific investigation of this approach. Empirical findings establish a precise mathematical threshold: a coherence-generating group must equal the square root of 1% of a population (\(N\)). For the 2024 global population, this required approximately 10,000 individuals. Independent sociological data analyzed via established time-series methods show that reaching this threshold correlates with significant improvements in multidimensional indicators, including social health, crime rates, and conflict reduction. Approximately 50 peer-reviewed publications have validated this "Maharishi Effect.
A study published in October 2025 examined the global impact of a gathering of approximately 10,000 meditators in early 2024 in Hyderabad, India. Time-series analyses indicated a significant reduction in sociopolitical violence from that point onward, both in the three most violence-affected countries and in the top 30 of the 50 countries, which together account for about 97% of all conflict events worldwide according to the Armed Conflict Location & Event Data Project (ACLED). The very strong 28,2 % decline of violent events in the Top 30 countries is not included.in the publication which appeared October 2025 in the Journal of Maharishi Vedic Research Institute (28, 11–53) under the title Quantification of the Global Maharishi Effect: A Quasi-Experimental Study of the Three Most Violent Countries, authored by Kenneth L. Cavanaugh and Lee Fergusson(2025)
