10,000 To Create World Peace Assembling In Hyderabad
The Global Union of Scientists for Peace (GUSP) announced a massive and highly innovative demonstration of the means to end warToday at Delhi’s Taj Mahal hotel, international representatives of the Global Union of Scientists for Peace (GUSP) announced a massive and highly innovative demonstration of the means to end war and create peace. Starting on 29 December and running for two weeks, 10,000 advanced experts in the Transcendental Meditation (TM) and TM-Sidhi programs from 119 countries are gathering at Kanha Shanti Vanam outside Hyderabad to demonstrate what the scientists called “the proven consciousness-based approach to creating world peace.”
Principal speaker at the conference Dr. Tony Nader, a Harvard and MIT-trained medical doctor and neuroscientist, chairman of GUSP, successor to Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, and leader of the Transcendental Meditation organizations worldwide, made a startling claim: “We now have a scientifically proven technology to create immediate world peace.”
Dr. Nader further said, “Never before have so many experts in these consciousness technologies gathered in one place, and from so many countries. With war raging in many places and diplomacy failing everywhere, the world desperately needs a new approach. More than 54 empirical studies published in leading peer-reviewed scholarly journals and professional scientific conference proceedings have proved that the technologies of consciousness to be demonstrated in Hyderabad really work. Even just a few people assembled in one place — as few as 10,000 for the entire world’s population of 8.1 billion — are enough to create peace globally. If we can establish such a group permanently, world peace will be achieved, and it will be perpetual.”
When asked why this demonstration is being held in India, Dr. Nader replied, “It’s well known that meditation began in India in ancient Vedic times. Meditation used to be just for monks and mystics. But now, thanks to the tireless work of India’s Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, it is for everyone. Starting in the late 1950s, Maharishi brought Transcendental Meditation to every country in the world
“Recently there has been a huge increase of interest in meditation,” Dr. Nader said. “In the last three years alone, time spent meditating has increased 2900 per cent. At least 250 million people — 3 per cent of the world’s population — now meditate. Many of the world’s largest corporations report that meditation is an essential part of their management and employee-wellness strategy.”
“This is one of India’s and Maharishi’s invaluable gifts to the world,” Dr. Nader said. “And it’s science that is driving this exponential growth.”
Dr. Fred Travis, director of the Brain Center at Maharishi International University USA and a world expert in how the brain functions during meditation, demonstrated to the press conference audience what happens when a person practices TM. Using an EEG machine hooked to a seated meditator, Dr. Travis described the brain wave patterns seen on two giant screens in the Taj conference room.
Dr. Travis said, “What you’re seeing is brain activity during a fourth major state of human consciousness, completely different from waking, dreaming, and sleeping. In the ancient Yogic texts this is called samadhi. You see a quick onset of activity in the alpha frequency band, about 8-10 cycles per second, indicating a state of deeply restful alertness — deeper than sleep and more alert than waking. And you can see how the brain waves from all the different parts of the brain have lined up, becoming much more coherent and orderly, and how they’ve increased in power. This is the signature of samadhi, and TM is the only meditation that produces this immediately from the first sitting. It’s from this brain coherence that all the many benefits of TM come
The scientists reported that more than 750 scientific studies in more than 100 countries over the last 50 years have proved the benefits of Transcendental Meditation for every area of individual and social life. Benefits include significant reductions in post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), anxiety, depression, and cardiovascular risk factors, and marked improvements in performance, creativity, heart health, longevity, and self-actualization.
In a video streamed to the press conference from the US, Dr. John Hagelin, a world-renowned quantum physicist and particle astrophysicist, said, “When people practice TM and its advanced technologies of consciousness together in a group, they effectively defuse acute stress and resulting crime and conflict in the surrounding society.
Dr. Hagelin called this “the field effect of consciousness.” Dr. Hagelin said, “Contemporary physics is very close to describing a unified field at the basis of all the forces, matter, and energy in the universe. Many think this physical unified field is identical with the field of consciousness. The technologies of consciousness being demonstrated in Hyderabad will create a field effect of coherence throughout world consciousness, parallel to what you’ve seen today in the brain of an individual meditator. We can call this ‘the brain-based approach to world peace.’”
Dr. Hagelin described what happened during a similar demonstration project he organized in the summer of 1993, when 4,000 TM consciousness experts gathered in Washington DC, which media at that time were calling “the crime capital of America.”
“We predicted in advance a 20 per cent drop in crime,” he said. “And during the demonstration crime dropped 23.3 per cent. This result was confirmed by an independent review board of leading scientists from throughout the US and officials of the Washington DC police. The experiment controlled for every other factor that could have accounted for the sudden improvement. Washington was transformed, and the functioning of the US government was liberated from acute partisan gridlock to one of the most cooperative and constructive periods in US political history.”
A group of about 30 TM meditators from 10 different countries were on hand at the Delhi press conference. For a few minutes, they closed their eyes and meditated, spreading a noticeably calming influence throughout the room full of busy journalists.
Deepak Baskota, former Home Minister of Nepal, was among the meditators. Mr. Baskota said, “I have practiced TM for 27 years, so I know first-hand how beneficial it is. I will be one of the 10,000 in Hyderabad. I am convinced that we finally have a technology to achieve global peace
Establishing a Permanent Group of 10,000. Dr. Nader concluded the Delhi press conference with these words: “I urge every leader everywhere to watch what happens in Hyderabad, look at the well-documented research, and then do something extraordinary: Help establish permanently, anywhere in the world, a group of 10,000 experts in these technologies of consciousness. This would be the greatest contribution to life on Earth ever made, and you would be remembered as the greatest benefactor of mankind.”

10,000 Minds, 118 Nations: Groundbreaking Upcoming International Summit Will Redefine Global Unity for Peace
Ten thousand experts are convening in Hyderabad to showcase proven peace-creating technologies of consciousness.Hailing from 118 countries, these experts, spanning all ages and walks of life, cultures, and religions, will assemble from 29 December 2023 to 13 January 2024 at Kanha Shanti Vanam near Hyderabad. This assembly is being organized by the Global Union of Scientists for Peace (GUSP).
With conflicts and wars escalating, there is an urgent need for a new approach. The Assembly proposes a coherence-creating group of experts in these technologies of consciousness that can prevent war and conflict at a cost lower than a single day of war.
Extensive scientific research has substantiated that these technologies create a measurable influence of peace throughout society.
The assembly in Hyderabad will mark the initiation of an endeavour to establish a permanent peace-creating group of 10,000 for the entire world, with the potential to forge lasting global peace.
The 10,000 experts gathering near Hyderabad are proficient in specific advanced technologies of consciousness, namely, the Transcendental Meditation (TM) and TM-Sidhi Program, as elucidated by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi.
Derived by Maharishi directly from the ancient Vedic science of India, these technologies have been validated by modern scientific research. Maharishi, a distinguished scientist of consciousness, taught globally from 1958 until 2008. Presently, 100 countries offer authorized training in these powerful technologies.
The Assembly of 10,000 for World Peace is not merely a call for peace or a forum for discussions. It will focus solely on the practical application of proven technologies of consciousness to radiate a coherence-creating influence of peace throughout the world.
Since the mid-1970s, fifty-four empirical studies published in leading peer-reviewed scholarly journals or professional conference proceedings have found that groups of experts practicing these technologies together radiate a powerful influence of coherence in the entire surrounding society. This phenomenon, named "the Maharishi Effect," has been officially recognized by the Australian government for crime prevention.
The individuals spearheading the organization of the "10,000 for Peace" assembly include Dr. Tony Nader, MD, PhD, a neuroscientist, globally recognized Vedic scholar, and a renowned authority in consciousness studies. As Maharishi's successor, he leads TM organizations worldwide and serves as the chairman of the Global Union of Scientists for Peace (GUSP). And Dr. John Hagelin, PhD, a physics professor, president of Maharishi International University, and president of GUSP, is also instrumental in this effort. Additionally, Dr. Ashley Deans, PhD, a physics professor and executive vice president at GUSP.

Less than One Day of WarDr. Tony Nader, Chairman of the Global Union of Scientists forPeace, said this innovative solution would ''cost less than one dayof war.''''The solution is based in the most fundamental value of life:consciousness,'' Dr. Nader said.Scientifically Confirmed by 56 Studies" Dr. Nader said, ''Research has found that small groups practicingthe Transcendental Meditation and advanced TM-Sidhi programtogether create a coherence effect that significantly reducesviolence, crime, and war.''This technology of consciousness has been confirmed in 56 empirical studies, 28 of which have been published in peer-reviewed scholarly journals. From research over 40 years, we cansay definitively: this solution works.''Consistent with Modern Theories of Physics andNeuroscienceThe Global Union of Scientists for Peace is a global organization ofscientists, political leaders, and scholars from different fields. It isheadquartered at Maharishi International University in Fairfield,Iowa, USA. Dr. Nader is a medical doctor trained at Harvard. Healso holds a PhD in Brain and Cognitive Sciences from theMassachusetts Institute of Technology.Dr. Nader said this technology ''is not only borne out by empiricalresearch conducted globally, but is also consistent with moderntheories of physics and neuroscience.''Over 600 Studies Show Benefits for the Individual''We know from more than 600 studies that this technologysignificantly reduces the impact of trauma in individuals, reducinganxiety, depression, and anger,'' Dr. Nader said. ''What may be surprising is that the square root of one percent of the populationpracticing this technology in a group reduces conflict, crime, illness, accidents, and other negative trends across wholesocieties, nations, and even the entire world.'

The waves of war are rising again around the fragile ship of our civilization, threatening to sink it to the depths of barbarism and radioactive megadeath. The principle to preventing this is stated in the constitution of UNESCO: “Since wars begin in the minds of men, it is in the minds of men that the defenses of peace must be constructed.” But no practical way is offered to implement this noble principle and create the needed change.
The ancient Vedic texts of India also state this principle, and they include a practical way to implement it that worked for thousands of years. The Vedic civilization was peaceful. No wars are recorded in its chronicles, and archaeological excavations have found no signs of it. This knowledge of how to implement it, though, was eventually lost, and warfare has become so common that it is now regarded as human nature.
Annihilation became a real possibility with the development of the hydrogen bomb in the early 1950s. To prevent this, an aged Indian monk, Swami Brahmananda Saraswati, and his young assistant, Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, searched the Vedas and rediscovered the key to implementing this knowledge:
Verse 2.35 of the Yoga Sutras describes how peace can be created: “In the vicinity of coherence, hostile tendencies are eliminated.”
The two monks knew coherence must begin within individuals and established in their brains, their physiology, not just as an idea. And they knew total brain coherence is only found at the deepest level of meditation, where mental activity is minimal and orderly. This is samadhi, transcendental consciousness, a state of no thoughts in which the mind rests in itself, pure consciousness alone without an object. It is very difficult to reach this state by concentration or by controlling the mind to clear away thoughts. These are mental activities and thus ineffective in eliminating activity. This level of coherence is most effectively achieved through a non-concentrating, non-controlling form of meditation: Transcendental Meditation.
TM is easy and effortless, without any trying, but this goes against our habits of achieving things, so it needs to be taught in a course with follow-up instruction.
Swami gave Maharishi the responsibility of making this course available to everyone in the world. Enough people around the world regularly experiencing samadhi would create the coherence necessary for permanent peace.
Maharishi had a university degree in physics and could direct the scientific research necessary to confirm the effectiveness of TM and gain it worldwide acceptance. Then he directed studies to show the peace-creating effects of large numbers of people meditating together.
Twenty-three studies based on fifty experiments now document the long-distance effects of large groups of TM-practitioners in reducing violence and improving quality of life in the surrounding society. This has been demonstrated in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Iowa, Washington DC, New Delhi, Manila, Puerto Rico, Nicaragua, El Salvador, Iran and Holland, where large groups met for long meditations. During every assembly violence, crime and accidents in the region dropped and the composite Quality of Life Index for public health, economics and social harmony rose. All the changes were measured by independent scientists and were statistically highly significant. The groups of meditators improved the whole society: negativity decreased, positivity increased. After the assemblies, the figures returned to their previous levels. The results were calculated by comparing data from different time periods to ensure that the only variable was the meditation course, thus establishing it as the cause of the change. Peer-reviewed studies have been published in the Journal of Conflict Resolution, Journal of Mind and Behaviour, Journal of Crime and Justice, Social Indicators Research and other academic publications.
I attended two of these assemblies, and the experiences were wonderful. Meditating with thousands of other people strengthens the results. The mental emanations reinforce one another into a palpable effect of group consciousness. I enjoyed deeper levels of inner silence and clearer infusions of transcendental energy. Outside of meditation, we treated one another with a harmony and tenderness that I’d never experienced in a group of people before. It was a taste of what an ideal society could be like.
In the late 1980s Maharishi constructed with the help of a wealthy donor a residential center in India and filled it with seven thousand meditators practicing several hours a day. The other experiments had been short-term, lasting a few weeks or months, but this one lasted two years – a time that fundamentally changed the world. The Cold War ended, communism collapsed, the people of Eastern Europe and the Soviet Union freed themselves of totalitarian rule, the Berlin Wall came down, eighty nations signed an agreement that saved the ozone layer, black and white South Africans dismantled apartheid, hostile borders became open and friendly, former enemies signed arms reduction and nonaggression treaties. It was a period of unprecedented good will, a breakthrough for world peace.
But the donor ran out of money. He had already expended most of his fortune supporting the group and couldn’t continue. The group dissolved, and negative consequences followed swiftly: The USA decided for full-spectrum dominance and developed new nuclear weapons; the first Gulf War broke out; Yugoslavia dissolved into violent chaos; terrorism multiplied. Destructive trends in all areas of life continue to engulf us.
Now Dr. Tony Nader, Maharishi’s successor, is continuing the efforts to build a permanent peace-keeping group. From 29 December to 13 January ten thousand people will gather in a retreat center near Hyderabad, India, in comfortable accommodations with a huge meditation hall, medical center, fitness center with swimming pool, all surrounded by 1400 acres of forest, gardens, lakes and wildlife.
They will do yoga and meditate several hours a day, and independent scientists throughout the world will measure the effects of their coherent group consciousness. Strong enough results should finally convince governments, corporations and wealthy benefactors to fund a permanent group of peace-keeping professionals. Our survival depends on it.
“10,000 for World Peace” could be a watershed event in human history, and you can join it by contacting your nearest TM Center. Come along! Together we can create peace!

What is Super Radiance?
Super Radiance is the extraordinary, positive effect radiated to the rest of society by a group of highly skilled meditators. This unique effect only takes place when enough of these meditators practice meditation together at the same time daily. And the number we require in the group has to be equivalent to the square root of 1% of the host population. As soon as the group grows to a size equivalent to the square root of 1%, of the local population then things start to change. Routinely we see an immediate and dramatic reduction of hostility, crime and violence. At the same time there is always a surge in creative activity, harmony and positivity across society.
Importantly, the research indicates there is only one particular meditation that creates this powerful societal effect. And this is the advanced form of Transcendental Meditation known as the TM-Sidhi programme.
Will the Super Radiance event be world changing?
There have already been about fifty studies carried out so far by a variety of different researchers. The consistency of results from these studies means we can make real predictions about this New Year event. Quite simply, should this group of TM-Sidhas reach sufficient numbers, then they will create a global Super Radiance effect. And this will occur at the precise moment the group size achieves the square root of 1% of the world population. So, globally this means we need a minimum of about 8,000 TM-Sidhas. With this number in place, then we can expect to see some really positive changes happening right across the world.
At the very least if the group is large enough, we shall see a short-term cessation of violent conflicts in the Middle East. This will include the war in the Yemen, and the violence in Israel. Hopefully the group will be large enough so that the effect will stretch as far as to Ukraine. But if the full 8,000 figure is reached, then all countries everywhere will experience significant benefits. We can anticipate changes such as reductions in crime occurring in towns across the world and better relationships between heads of states. There should be reduced fatalities due to car and plane accidents, fewer infectious diseases, as well as evidence of improved creativity such as a rising number of patents applications. (You can read details of the benefits of a previous global Super Radiance event here.)
It is not too late to join the Super Radiance event
